Pearce Memorial Free Methodist Church seeks candidates for a Pastor of Children and Families Ministry who will oversee and cast a clear vision for ministries to children and families. This ministry serves children from infancy through 6th grade, both within the church and the surrounding community. Emphasis will be placed on spiritual formation of all children and developing strategies and programs that will assist parents in their role as the primary spiritual teachers of their children.
Pearce Memorial Free Methodist Church is located in North Chili, NY. It has Sunday attendance of about 900. Pearce exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ, and ministers through the fivefold purpose of membership, maturity, ministry, mission and magnification. An age-appropriate process leads our children and youth to fall in love with the Lord for a lifetime: to commit themselves to the fellowship of the church, mature spiritually, discover their gifts for ministry and understand their life mission in the world. Our youth ministry exists to attract non-believing students and connect them with other believers so that they cultivate a heart of God. We seek to honor God with our lives as well as discover our personal ministry.
MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES
Relating to Children:
• Articulates a philosophy of children’s ministry and the values under girding the ministry and cascades this philosophy through the congregation.
• Oversees and coordinates all aspects of the children’s ministry including, but not limited to, Sunday School, Preschool Nurseries, KidzWorship, Wednesday night activities, VBS, and other special events.
• Selects, evaluates and monitors programs and curriculum for Children’s Ministries.
Relating to Families:
• Provides pastoral care for children and their families including but not limited to hospital visits, counseling, baptisms, family crisis intervention, etc.
• Provides teaching to equip parents to pass on their faith to their children and develop strategies to help parents fulfill their role of primary spiritual trainers for their children
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Directly accountable to Senior Pastor. Works with Pastoral Staff to assure unity between “Children and Family” ministries and other ministry programs of the church.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelors degree in related field with seminary degree in Christian Education desirable
• Proven leadership and management experience
• Committed, growing Christian
• Proven ability to motivate, encourage and mentor children’s ministry staff
• Endorses and supports the Pearce Church doctrinal statement, constitution and philosophy of ministry
• A passion to see all children and their families come to know, love and follow Jesus Christ
