Job Summary:
The Light and Life teacher must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the mission and vision of East Los Angeles Light and Life Christian School. The teacher must be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity in academic and leadership abilities that will enable him/her to teach God’s truth. The ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are pre-requisites.
Qualifications:
Born-again Christian; Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Teaching Credential preferred (if none, must be obtaining credits to seek credential); ASCI certified or State Credential preferred; Classroom teaching experience preferred; Bilingual (Spanish) highly desired; Must have a heart and vision for ministry through teaching and education; Assents to school’s statement of faith and can integrate Christian faith into classroom instruction.
Summary of Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Plan and teach subjects for the assigned grade using curriculum, supplementary materials, field trips, special guests, etc., to enhance the learning process.
2. Attend and participate in the following: Wednesday morning devotions, faculty meetings, evening programs involving students from assigned grade, ACSI Convention, and other meetings as assigned.
3. Do supervisory duty on playground as assigned.
4. Complete required paperwork in a timely fashion.
5. Building/Classroom cleaning and repair:
• Be responsible for daily and end-of-year cleaning of classroom area.
• Assist in overall cleanliness of facilities.
• Promptly report repair needs to the Facilities Manager.
6. Plan parties at designated holidays.
7. Maintain proper classroom discipline, taking care of minor problems personally, referring major problems to the Principal.
8. Be available to students &/or parents of the assigned grade who wish to have a conference before or after school.
9. Hold parent conferences for each student as required throughout the school year.
10. Supervise extra-curricular activities, organizations, outings as assigned.
11. Carry-out any other specific duties as assigned by the Principal.
